If i had to save the world by sacking the QB

we might as well say goodbye to humanity. I know there most likly been a lot of threads about this but is there a quick tip i can get on sacking the qb. Im at week 8 in my franchise and my team has a total of 6 sacks. Everytime im about to sack the qb he just freaking chucks it and he happens to connects with the reciever....

Re: If i had to save the world by sacking the QB

I feel like I have a better chance of sacking the quarterback if I'm simply playing lock-down coverage and blitzing next to no one.

It almost seems like there is a point you reach if your coverage holds out long enough the CPU QBs stop making reads and either throw it away completely/try to scramble/or take a sack.

I was playing against the Bucs the other night as the Bears and I had four sacks on Garcia including two from my interior linemen. Garcia would tend to tuck the ball away if my coverage held up long enough, and he'd tried to run it himself, which resulted in three of the four sacks. The other came more naturally if I recall.

In my last Play Now game vs. Washington I only recorded one sack, and it came on a play action where one of my guys broke through immediately and there was no time at all for Campbell to throw it. I tried my best to get some coverage sacks, but instead of tucking and running like Garcia, Campbell tended to throw the ball away.

I still think coverage sacks are the way to go though and blitzing really doesn't work in getting sacks. Maybe quick incompletions, but not sacks.

Has anyone been able to time a blitz right up the middle with a MLB and get untouched to the QB? Does he still get it off? I've never been able to get through completely clean.

I'm playing with Dummy Sliders with my pass rush near 100 and their pass block really low as well. But as we all know, it has nothing to do with the blocking, or lack there of. It's simply the CPU QB's turbo release.

Re: If i had to save the world by sacking the QB

I think the root of the problem comes down to how defenders move. They are too unresponsive and hard to control in a very precise manner, whether human or cpu controlled. At least, they are compared to WR's/TE's, who move around far more effortlessly. This leaves targets open whether it be man or zone that the QB probably shouldn't consider to be open, but of course they fire off a perfect throw and get it in there anyway, usually resulting in a completion because the defenders seemingly have to be in the perfect spot to defend a pass, which is rarely the case.

A lot of throws the CPU attempts under pressure in this game would get the QB's chewed out by their coaches in real life. Take the sack, throw it away, get out of the pocket etc. But the AI doesn't think like this - it seems to consider such outcomes as worse than an INT.

I find that I get more sacks against scrambling QBs because I play the MLB and I tackle them in the backfield.

I'm actually not having any trouble getting to the QB now. Sure its not as easy as it was on the PS2, which was 2 easy, but now I'm getting around 2-4 sacks a game. One tip I can give you is to make your D-Line crash outward (RB + UP on the RS). On those long yardage downs sometimes I will spread the D-Line out (LB + UP on the LS) and have them crash out (RB + Up on RS). Some times I will control the left DE and just try and manual speed rush around the blocker and that usually works too.
