Re: Manually making aggressive or spectacular catches.

Well hopefully next year we have the ability to make leaping grabs. I can not stress how much Madden needs this.

Re: Manually making aggressive or spectacular catches.

Ive been doin this for a while and it works pretty well for jumpballs.

1( Youve got to let go of sprint and flow with the ball.

2( When the ball is released, try to time it when its just above the top of your screen.

3( Then HOLD Y for 360 or triangle for ps3 . Ive noticed That all of the jumpball catch animations are posession catches this year.

Try it out and give me some feedback

I have not tried that. Hold "Y" you say? Cool.

I have also tried lobbing the ball up to taller players and letting the CPU catch, but no dice. No once jumps.

I agree I see better results by not sprinting but it's not much better. Holding Y does nothing.

Gotcha. Well, I just got home from work, so I'm going to try it.

Even while not using sprint, you still can't just tap Y? I just can't accept the fact that EA would take away such a big part of the game.

Re: Manually making aggressive or spectacular catches.

Well I tried not using sprint and just holding Y, but no real difference.

Did someone say earlier that depending if you have weapons on or not or if you play on a certain level that you can jump?

Re: Manually making aggressive or spectacular catches.

I get really annoyed when I manually control Randy Moss and expect him to jump for the ball that Matt Cassel's thrown a little too high, with Moss having 100 as his jumping rating, I think that it won't be no problem....until I see Mike Vrabel from out of nowhere, jump up as high as he can to bat it down...I checked Mike's stats and...he's got 54 as his jumping rating...

Re: Manually making aggressive or spectacular catches.

Using custom sliders and using the strafe button is the only way to jump, besides getting lucky by throwing it high. I've won a ton of jump balls on fades and deep passes by using the strafe button. It's far from perfect though. This HAS to be fixed for 2010's game.
