Why is field degradation so important?

I just don't understand the near rabid fanbase for this kind of a thing.

Sure there are things more important, but field degradation is an important part of immersion...particularly if you are playing in a downpour and your team is muddy from head to toe. Nothing like a "mud bowl" on a pristine field...lol

I never understood it either. I guess it is an easy thing to fix compared to other things.

Your the minority here buddy if atmosphere, presentation and the overall "feel" of a sports videogame is not important to you. Believe it or not.. field denigration is part of the atmosphere and really pretty much the ONLY atmosphere Madden has lol.. I hope Madden 2010 makes a total change around with the atmosphere and atleast match that of NFL2k5..which was out 4 years go...

I never said any of that stuff wasn't important to me, just don't understand the rabid demand for it over more important issues about the game, like CPU sliders.

Man I have been wondering why its more important than the ROBO QB but I guess people rather see the field tore up and live with Travis Jackson complete 80% of his passes. When guys like Vince Young pass like Montana its a game killer for me but the bright side of this is the rainy games will look cool.
