I just bought a brand new PS3 and it seems like none of my PS2 games will play. It just says that the PS3 system does not support the PS2 game. Any ideas?

Is it a 40GB ps3? If so, that is why.

Yep. Hate to say it, but sometimes you gotta do your homework. Sony's gone away from backward compatible PS3's. They're not completely off the market though, I don't think (the 80 GB one's still around, right?)

Only the 80GB Metal Gear Solid bundles are backwards compatible now, and they might be hard to find. Sony's supposed to be bringing out an 80GB that isn't backwards compatible, but I don't know when that is supposed to be.

They also print on the box that the system isn't compatible with PS2 software. It's not a big obnoxious sticker or anything, so you probably didn't notice, but it's on there somewhere. Sorry man.

Luckily I bought my 60 gig last Xmas.I didn't know Sony was phasing out B/C PS3's.

You're absolutely right. I just checked the box and it does say that it is not compatible with the PS2. Do you know where I can get one that is backwards compatible.

Even if he did have a BC system, there's no guarantee that '09 would be BC this soon, would there?

If so, I might have to look into getting the LG version of 09 for my 360...

The 60gb systems have ps2 hardware in them. They would be just as compatible as a ps2.

It isnt emulation like the 360's BC (which is terrible and will probably never support any LG madden games)
