I need help with trucking.

I just can't seem to do it at all. I play as the Giants, as you well know Brandon Jacobs is now the best trucking RB in the game, but for whatever reason I just can't get it to happen for me. I don't expect it to work in a crowd to get me throw like it used to in Madden 08 and 07, but if I am in the open field with a safety charging at me straight away I expect to bust him up with a shoulder blast at least 40% of the time.

Is it timing, is it positioning, is it something else? The stiff arm doesn't work to great avail either. I've played guys that use Marion Barber and Steven Jackson to terrific effect because they can break tackles well.

On the other hand I seem to have a lot more success with Bradshaw's escapability. He does have a higher elusiveness rating though.

I'm not 100% sure about this, but...

In years past you had to hit the stick a second before contact, and you'd often get the animation where the defender gets knocked backwards on his arse.

This year (maybe because of the break tackle branching) it seems like I have more success using evasive moves prior to contact. Once the defender wraps me up, then I hit stick. Usually it results in a second effort and a surge forward for another yard or two. Sometimes it completely breaks the tackle with that classic style hit stick animation. Once in a while though, it causes me to fumble, especially if I'm trying to push through a gang tackle.
