Ok, there are alot of threads about all the bad things about Madden 09 on the 360/PS3. In fact, many people prefer the last gen version of the game saying that it is better.

I thought we need a positive thread about the next gen looking at the good things it does. So, what does it in fact do better than last gen? I'll throw in the obvious one to start the thread:

1. Better overall graphics

Ok, now we got that one out of the way lets get some other things listed that it in fact does better. It must be something more right???

Thats pretty much it. And I am being 100% honest. Not hating or anything. It sadly is the truth. The current gen versions are still ahead of the times compared to next gen versions. The only way to explain this is just to actually play a current gen (ps2) version of madden. And it will be so fun but not look so pretty.

2. The way you break tackles is more dynamic in next gen. That I like better.

Come on, someone must have some good things to say about the game?

Things that are better:

*Animations
*Stadiums
*Weather
*Lighting

HD.
Online capabilities are better.
Better player head shots.

Yeah, it would be pretty foolish to claim that nothing has gotten better since last-gen. But when you look at the entirety of the game, many of those improvements are superficial, and don't do as much to "help" the game as the flaws do to "hurt" it.

2 years ago, when Madden 07 had just come out, people were still adjusting to next-gen (and many didn't even own HDTV's...well, many still don't). Therefore, there was a novelty in just having something in HD, even if the product wasn't all that great.

Two iterations of Madden later, HD graphics and 60 fps have become the norm, but how else has the game evolved? It really hasn't, other than branch tackling, which should've been in Madden 2005. And the franchise mode, which became a key selling point for Madden in the PS2 era, hasn't even come close to the accessibility or level of detail we had 5 years ago!

Defensive controls have been taken AWAY from us (particularly on the defensive line), and there hasn't even been an innovation as signficant as Playmaker or Hit Stick this generation.

The graphics on the back of the box art are better on next gen....

I guess it was hard finding anything that was done better on next-gen. Sadly this was not my goal with the thread. I was hoping that we could focus on the good stuff.
