Is it better to press 'tackle'?

This is something I've always wondered, not sure why Ive never asked it.

Is it better (more successful) to press the tackle button, or to just run into the ball carrier?

Do you notice more fumbles happening doing one or the other? Thanks!

I dive tackle quite often, when doing that I have noticed very few fumbles occur. With the Hit stick i have noticed more fumbles occurring. With just running into the player and tackling i have noticed almost none (I dont run into the player that much usually use the hit stick or dive tackle)

Re: Is it better to press 'tackle'?

I just came in to say it would be nice to have a tackle button. It would also be nice to have that tackle button be a safe, wrap tackle, keep the hit stick for big hits and save the dive for desparation tackles.

It would really be nice to have realistic advantages & disadvantages to all of them. The wrap tackle should be the safest, but maybe allow for an extra yard or 2 depending on the angle & acceleration. The hit stick should be the riskiest, but cause more injuries & fumbles. And the dive should have the most range, but be the least effective, especially in situations where a defender wouldn't dive.

Re: Is it better to press 'tackle'?

it really depends on two things skill level and turbo. The higher your skill level the less effective the dive button is, they call it the tackle button but its actually a dive button, and should be used only as a last ditch effort. Second when you are using turbo in combination with any button it dramatically increases the ineffectiveness of said button, the tackle being no different, so i always run into the player but without pressing turbo is the key, Im no guru or anything I just comb the threads a lot.
