Re: Small but cool change

Hey Ian, what about the defense, they seem to have little consequence as far as movement which is why button jukes dont really work.

Also, whats with the hitstick having such a low skill requirement? It should require great timing and direction alignment to get the powerful hits that seem to result from flicking the stick in the general area of the player on Madden 09.

there should be much more 'whiffs' on those hits because they are fundamentally unsound. As of now 'big hitters' are golden when in reality they should be much more of risk/rewards players and the "brick wall" defenders should be the one that are coveted for there wrap up tackles.

Re: Small but cool change

I am thinking he is touting it as a "small change" because he is not sure how it will apply to the actual game yet. Remember those 150 catch animations or whatever that never made it to Madden 09 because the animations didn't play correctly? Exactly... Very nice change, and the work is much appreciated, but let's hope the engine is truly effected with the change.

Nice work Ian!!! Keep at it!!!

Re: Small but cool change

Anything that makes this game more realistic is a great thing.

Ian is there anything/anyway that a implementation of a defender's pursuit angle could greatly effect his ability to make the tackle? Maybe putting a greater effect on the actual pursuits attribute?

What Im getting at is something like this. EX: If Reggie Bush is running the ball and has a 1 vs 1 a LB like Patrick Willis, all the moves in the world are not going to help Bush because of A) Willis's Speed , B) his pursuit angles.

Now the same scenario with Bush vs LB Teddy Bruschi , Bush should be able to easily put the moves on him to get by him. I think this is lacking in Madden. I feel like everyone in this area of gameplay is treated equally. There needs to be more of a dominate effect on the the star players. As it is right now in madden I can play a 5 min qrt game and Truck/juke/spin/stiff arm ect. B Urlacher/R Lewis/P Willis anywhere from 5-10x a game.

Re: Small but cool change

One thing I am hoping for in a drastic change in the WR aniamtion system. I think there needs to be a ton of new animations capturing catch styles and whatnot. Like if your a user controlled reciver like me, have recievers that run after the ball change their body language according to how you want to catch it. Like if your running under a fade, the reciever adjusts his body to ball and jumps and makes the catch. here a video exactly what I am talikng about:
Boldin- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F4bAk...eature=related
Ocho Cinco(1:55 mark)- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vV2pr...eature=related
Also Ian could you ask to art guy or whomever to redo the player equipment deal where the shoulder pads look all weird. http://i.a.cnn.net/si/2007/writers/b...er_bergman.jpg

Ian

You see STUFF LIKE THIS is what I and many other 2k lifers are talking about. This is game play improvements although it seems minor but stuff like this will have the player movements look that much more life like. And like you said if this is a small improvement than great awesome step forward. I would much, much, much rather hear about stuff like this than having AP's celebration right! Again nice work little things like this is what we hope will make 2010 finally a REAL representation of the NFL

Re: Small but cool change

I'm all in favor of anything that brings the game closer to realism...and more realistic player movement is one of them.

This adjustment looks like a nice move in that direction.

Thanks for the info Ian.

This is why I'm no programmer......I have no clue what Ian just said!

Sounds like a nice change, though. Thanks!
