NBA 2k9 has the greatest in-game and post game highlights. You can take EACH player and look at the highlights from that player. Bring that to madden. PLEASE.

If a player is having a great game, show a highlight reel of some of the good plays during the game, during halftime, and post game.

not to be negative but I believe that Ea has already got what they wanted in this thing by the time of the new year.

I may be wrong but go ahead guys.

For example, take overlays. The way they look just aren't serious enough. They need to look sharper and sleeker. They also need to have better timing in terms of what plays should cause them to pop up, what types of things should be displayed in the overlay (86 stuff like ring builder stats, frequent drive updates, and other stuff that wouldn't be shown in a TV broadcast overlay). The overlays need to be stricter and more individual player focused...

No more of these overlays with "Passing Summary" or the like. If, say, Peyton Manning is the QB, we don't need a generic "passing summary" of stats. We need his specific individual stats with his name attached. It only makes sense.

Then take post-play camera's... they just need to get rid of those strange zoom-outs and far-away shots and stick close like TV.

Replay angles... they need to change the replay angles to be closer, and field level like TV... most of the angles chosen are just not appealing. They disconnect you from the action on the field.

Use more large shots. More shots that frame the player, and use those shots to post up stat overlays so the player is being properly spotlighted.

And finally, they need to make the playcall screen a full screen structure with a large clear window that shows us continuous live happenings so that it all fits together seamlessly from field to playcall, playcall to field. This would be very, very impressive.

... I believe they can do all of these things this coming season because all of the components are already present in Madden 09. It's just a matter of using what they have now, differently... better.

Whether it will happen or not we don't know, but from what the devs have all said presentation is going to be a priority again this season. If they don't rock it out this year, then when? It's not like this generation is going to be around much longer. If it doesn't happen this upcoming season, then I'll be highly skeptical that it will ever happen this generation.
Man, I was just thinking the same thing while playing the other day. Its the camera angles that destroy the immersion on the field. After a play the camera needs to focus on the key player of said play and have his stats posted, along with the commentators saying something about the player. The camera should track the player while walking back to the huddle or track him while coming out of the huddle with commentary and stats. Thats how its done during real time NFL games.

They already have the camera executing this, but it basically just tracks the offensive line while breaking out of the huddle. Utilize that camera motion, but use it for specific players, ie, the LB, DB, etc who just made a tackle, or the WR, RB, etc who caught the last pass or run or what have you.

Presentation isn't what EA does. Either they don't understand, or they don't care. Either way, Madden will not come close to the 2K5 style presentation that most want. Madden 2010 will be identical to 09 in terms of presentation, just with some altered graphics like they do every year. Thats it, thats all. Don't expect anything more, because you will be disappointed yet again, and again, and again...

I'm sorry, but I've been playing madden since 90... or whenever it first came to be. But I have been playing 2k5 with the new rosters, and man it is crazy! Madden developers need to plug this game in and take notes... just the sports center week in review alone is enough to convert the average sports gamer. Just try it with the new rosters. trust me, I've been playing football games since Ten Yard Fight!

Check this out, I know you'll appreciate this one...

I was playing Madden 07 on Sunday. I had the Falcons against the Vikings at MN (I have the game with updated rosters).

30 seconds left, tied game. The Vikes finish driving down on me (my created Adrian Peterson was killing me on the ground). They line up and kick a field goal from about 36 yards out. They make it and it goes into a big cutscene where the kicker jumps into the air with arms extended in the air, then jumps up into the arms of the holder and the holder is kind of carrying him around while a few other Vikings are going nuts!

...My jaw dropped.

I've been playing this game for quite a while and never seen that one before. THIS is the kinda stuff they should've kept building on for presentation. You don't just throw good work like that away and replace it with nothing.

Sidenote: even with 20-something seconds left, I used my created Matt Ryan (who seems to be fast as hell for some reason), completed a few big throws and then kicked the game-winning field goal. It felt especially good to crush the Vikings hopes after they'd just had their big victory cutscene for making the Field goal, lol.
