Ok so i'm playing franchise mode in madden 09.

And when i go to player management and look at a player.

In the top left hand corner, there is a bomb icon. Sometimes there's a diamond icon.

What does the 'bomb' and the 'diamond' represent?

I think the bomb represents the player is a bust, while the diamond represents that they are a gem.

I've had diamonds that were 99. and bombs that were 99. though these were from imported draft classes.

however, i've seen a diamond win rookie of the year but his overall was only like 72.

And i've had bombs on guuys that were drafted in like the 6th round. And diamonds for guys drafted 3rd overall.

I thought it was bomb=draft bust & diamond= gem in the draft, but I'm not sure there's any rhyme or reason to how they're distributed. It seems random at best.

Yeah its def random. During my Giants 'chise in 08 (Year 2) Gibril Wilson tore his ACL and was out for the year. I picked up a NCAA Draftee named J.J. Taylor out of Texas A&M off the FA list. He was a BEAST! He won Defensive Rookie of the Year, and ultimatly replaced Gibril Wilson as one of my starting safties.

To make a long sotry short, he had a "bomb" symbol.

The bomb------the player is great at catching the long ball.

The diamond-----player p*ssed off his wife by cheating on her, and had to buy her forgiveness. (Think Kobe Bryant)
