Stat for Pass Break-ups? (not just deflections)

Would it be possible to add a stat category for Pass breakups? For example, when the WR, TE, or RB are in the process of catching the ball and I hit them and make them drop the ball before they have complete possession. It doesn't count as a pass deflection because it's not...but it is a pass breakup. It would be nice to get some kind of stat for breaking up passes other then the deflections.

The NFL Keeps stats for Passes Defended. Not sure if that includes both pass deflections, and hits on the would be ball carrier that makes them drop the ball or not.

Most of the defensive stats we know of are not official NFL stats. The NFL doesn't track passes defensed, tackles, assists, etc.. Basically interceptions, fumble recoveries, and sacks. That's about it. Everything else is tracked by stat agencies, media outlets, or the individual teams.

True but that doesn't mean we can't ask Madden to track them for us.

This is just like being a DB and shutting down the Wr (you get no credit for it). The only way you get credit for going to the pro bowl is the amount of interceptions you have.

Well how about a db like Deion Sanders? He would go without high interception #'s do to teams not throwing to him because he was a shutdown DB. You should be judged by how many times thrown at/ catches given up/ td's given up/yards given up. And defelections should matter just as much as Int's. A great db doesnt always gotta get int's to be great. He has to cover/ keep the wr from making plays.

This needs to be looked at in Madden.

I also agree with the OP that you should get some sort of credit for knocking the ball out of a wr's hand after he catches it. I think a BIG HIT stat was kept in Ps2/xbox1 games. I would prefer it say "Break ups" but atleast it was something.
