Who's to say, they won't release Peyton in his prime? When you're asking for 20 million a year, thats a lot of money even for Peyton. (He gets 18 mil in 2010 i think)

Some people thought Brady could have been released!

The NFL is a business. Clubs have loyalties to nobody. Not even peyton manning.
Really only the quarterbacks are relevant when comparing to oeyton. The market for linebackers and receivers is much different than that for franchise quarterbacks.

That said, Montana was not cut, he was traded. along with David Whitmore and a 3rd round pick in exchange for a 1st round pick.

Brett farve was not cut either. He also was traded for a conditional pick which I think ended up being a 3rd round pick.

As far as Rice is concerned nothing I can find shows him being released from any team other than Seattle and that was far from the prime of his career as he had played like 20 seasons at that point. From what I can find he left the 49ers as a free agent, not due to being cut but due to his contract being up and him not resigning. He left oakland via a trade.

Lewis also was not cut. He is a free agent due to his contract expiring and not being renewed.

I never said a player like peyton should never switch teams but they are not going to be cut, especially after the offseason iis over and teams are preparing for the preseason.

Yeah, and when you have Steve Young on the bench, and Terrel Owens in his prime, it's a lot easier to trade a Montana or let a Rice go.

But just randomly cutting your most valuable players doesn't happen very much, if ever, unless production drops.

Also, when they let rice leave he was coming off of a couple of pretty serious injuries and had been playing like 16 years at a positions where there is way more demand compared to supply than with the QB position and also where physical abilities that tend to decline are much more important than at the QB position.

And Ray Lewis is a Raven now. I'm really glad to hear this got fixed though. It was very annoying.

Yes I agree highly rated franchise QB's should be exempt from hitting FA. Brady, Roethlisberger, Palmer, Manning, those guys are not going to be let go. I'd say any QB under a 90 is up for trade, unless they are in thier first few years.

I can't think of any other position that would be untouchable. Even high caliber HB's can be moved.

Again I'm glad Donny touched on this and gave us the heads up that they are listening to this. Thank you thank you thank you.
