What happened to the Live Opponent feature?

Here's some info on the Live Opponent feature that was in Madden 07:

The new Live Opponent feature allows you to play your dynasty season as you normally would, but instead of a computer controlled opponent, a real person takes control of the opposition. This is always nice as it give you something more to play for in a franchise game.

Anyways a lot of people are asking for something similar to NCAA's online dynasty mode. If you guys (Ian, Phil, etc.) can't implement that into this years game, is there any way that you can bring back live opponent?

It was an alright feature, i used it a couple of times. But because of the lack of presentation, it really didn't do anything for me. Felt like playing another regular game...

I thought it was one of the best next gen features they came out with. I hope they put it back in the game.

When this feature was implemented first I never used it, now my friends and I play a franchise mode where we all have control of one of each of the 4 teams in any particular division and compete for the title. We typically do this with a fantasy draft as well. Now that we do this I was recently looking for this feature so we didnt have to always play our games over at one friends house, and now I come to find it removed. Hopefully it will make its return in 2010.

^Yeah that's why I was asking about it. This would be a good feature to bring back if they can't get online franchise into this year's game.

Heard from someone that they brought back the lockers to address the lack of online franchise....
