I loved the sim idea

Hi all, long time Madden fan here.

The idea of making Madden more sim style game is great. I believe this is where the next-gen(06 and up I think) of Maddens have failed. Madden has really just turned into a game. I don't want to have fun playing a football game, i want realism. I want Madden RTS. If I wanted to re-enact Fitzgerald killing the Panthers, I want to do that...the jump balls, lost coverage and all. You think about, Madden was originally created as a sim tool for training players. If you have ever played a flight simulator, you know it not easy and very realistic, Madden should be the same. I love the stuff I'm reading on the EA blog. I just hate when I see unrealistic stuff happen on Madden, becuase I play flag football and did hs football. I know what goes down, why cover gets blown, and so on. I think I heard there is a new team on the game, so I'm not knock anybody, but I lost faith in Madden and I didn't even buy it this year. Just want to comment. Thanks

Yeah, I don't laugh when I'm playing flag football and the other team has several burners. That the type of seriousness I want.

I definitely feel you. I think this year will be the year Madden makes that transition. I don't think it will be the end all be all, but it definitely be a nice turnaround for the series.

If EA product NBALive can go from completely unplayable to pretty damn good in one cycle there is a lot of hope for Madden!

I get what you mean also....but...

I think this is the perception that probably worries EA/TIB. That the closer to sim they get, the more fun thats lost for the average gamer. Personally, I think most people choose Madden because they expect Madden to deliver a realistic football experience.

My opinion maybe bias, but I believe the possible fear of sim by EA maybe unfounded. Regardless of age, I doubt the vast majority buy Madden because they hope it's fake as hell, and they can blow the cpu out by 60 every game. Sometimes I wonder if EA is misreading Madden's demographic. I wonder if by now, 30 year old Fred, outnumbers 12 year old Timmy playing Madden?

Re: I loved the sim idea

If EA wants to make a true sim game please EA for the sake of your passing game please put a stop to people dropping back 30 and 40 yards and, getting a huge amount of gains out of them. Thats just unreal football iv'e never seen that on sunday, and it seems like if your in a 3-4 defense its crazy hard trying to get to the QB especially if there in the shotgun. By the time you get around the offensive line the QB is already 15 to 20 yards back and still dropping. Also on another note defensive linemen get pushed pushed on the ground way to easily, to often most times if a d lineman falls down its b/c he slipped, lost balance or if the line is pushing forward. It seems like almost everytime I use my favorite d lineman aka jamal williams or castillo when i run straight into a lineman tryin to put a move on him it seems like he's just getting pushed to the side or on the ground.

I can't stand that BS, then they will also run to the sideline while the Defense stays tangled up at the LOS ,
LMAO, fix that crap.
