I LOVE ratings, the more the better (just like sliders), but if they don't DO anything then it defeats the purpose.

Furthermore, the ones that have a larger effect like footwork from what Donny just said, why not put them in bold so people know they are more important. The ones that do nothing....well take them out OR put them in grey so well all know they are just fluff and don't work.

Just my two pennys.
My guess (using my understanding of the Ortiz regime) is the transition was messy. Someone didn't do the legwork to see where everything was referenced, so when they started putting in new ratings, if they took the old ones out, they'd crash the game because little references here and there would call for a number that didn't exist.

Hopefully this is one of those things they'll finally get around to doing soon. It's really annoying to have a bunch of non-existent ratings in there.

Thanks Golden!....or maybe we're just both pathetic.

All kidding aside though, it's pretty vital to be as well that the player ratings are believable. And that they do indeed matter within the game play. I mean the player ratings are one of the pilers that hold a sports game together in my opinion. If the ratings are more of just something to keep you occupied, than real substance....like you Golden, that really hurts my interest.

I'd love to see a blog dedicated to ratings. How they really effect the players, and video evidents of the difference between highly rated vs low rated players, in at least some of the rating categories. [other than speed.]

Yeah a ratings blog would be a great thing!

The one on passing did cover the new passing ratings in decent detail.

So than im assuming Pass Block and Run Block rating is just a general idea of what the rating is.

and PB FW and PB Str is the more detailed version

as well as RB FW and RB Str

....you guys should use that to scouting advantage.

Let the good scouts show all the ratings and the bad show a general rating.

Simply put, Pass Block and Run Block were leftovers from CurrentGen. The decision was made to add some new offensive line ratings (years ago) - and the last 2 were not taken out altogether for whatever reason. I believe they are still being used in limited ways in sim code.

I never said they do "nothing". My statement was that I know for a fact that the primary ratings that matter for Offensive Linemen are the 4 we've been talking about - not P Block and R Block.

Thanks for clearing that up. I wish I had known sooner.

Donny, are there any other ratings that don't really do anything in gameplay(I'm looking at you, strength) or any other ratings that only affect simulation stats?

While I'm on that note, in fact, what purpose does the strength rating serve, if any?

Will you take the mitigated ratings out then next year?

So is R Block and P Block being cut out?

why keep the ones that don't matter anymore?

Just curious. If you guys decide to keep it, why not make it a feature, such as, a bad scout would just figure out the general ratings, such as "AWR, Str, P BLock, R Block, etc."

and make the good scouts, put out PBS, PBF, RBF, RBS, ect.

just an idea though.
