Re: Official player ratings

I don't see how in the world you can put LT ahead of Peterson after their respective seasons. LT is over the hill an Peterson is a stud. And an 85 for Sproles is laughable. Sure, he lit up a terrible Colts defense. What did he do vs a real defense in the Divisional game? 80 MAX.

And Ware just led the NFL in sacks. What is with the homerism by SD fans?

Re: Official player ratings

You gave 63 players ratings of 90 or above. 63. That would just defeat the whole purpose of re-vamping the rating system.

Re: Official player ratings

As far as sproles I would say mid 70s. The thing about that though is he should be really high in elusiveness, moves type ratings, acceleration, should have good hands for a back etc. He should on the other hand have really low ratings in terms of any power running ratings which will vastly lower his overall. I don't really see him as a great player so much as a playmaking weapon with certain abilities that are great and can situationally be used to make huge plays.

As far as leaving LT as the best back in the league he really just didn't have a year anything close to elite. He has been fighting injuries for over a full season and is going to be 30. I can not honestly see how anyone would really think he will be the best back in the league next year. I would call him a good back, probably even really good, but not among the leagues elite.

I agree. I would say there should be at most 2 or 3 players above 90 in each position, maybe less in some. That is still around 40 though who could be in that range which seems high. Also, they were talking about reworking how overalls are figured so that makes it tough to know how many should be in each area without knowing the formula that goes into figuring the overalls since the other ratings are what actually matter.

I think the speed drop is appropriate as of now since we don't know how his injuries have affected his overall speed. And maybe take away his acceleration but overall.... i don't see the need to take away his stats really.
And also thank you. I think D ware has gotten too much hype. Shawne Merriman is an absolute beast, and contributes so much to the Charger's D. They never went below 40 sacks when he played. And this year they had only 28! Listen, according to Chargers.com, the year he got drafted they had 46 sacks. the year before that they had 29. Then in either 2007 or 2006, they got 61!

I don't think AP should be rated higher than LT. I also don't think D ware should be rated higher than Merriman.
LT- 94/5
Merriman-98
Rivers-89/90
Big Ben- 91
Gates- 97
Brady - 98
P. Manning -97
Fitzgerald - 96
AP - 92
S. Holmes - 88
Shawn Phillips - 92
Sproles - 100!!!! jk. 85.

What did Shawn Phillips accomplish to merit a 92 rating? Not picking on you,i'm just curious.

Re: Official player ratings

This whole argument shows how subjective OVR is...

You should be arguing about these ratings:

SPD
QBA
QBP
RB Moves
MCV
ZCV
KPW
KAC

The list goes on... But NOT OVR!!!
