IMO, it should be a combination of ratings + whoever gets to the ball first.

Fumble recoveries aren't random. Skills like (strength, quickness, fast thinking (awr) all play apart in fumble recoveries) try striping a ball out of Brandon Jacobs hands.

although i voted for the ratings+situation+button mash option (it was the only one with ratings and situation together) i don't like the idea of a button mashing option because i don't want a pileup situation to basically be a guaranteed way for me to get the ball.

Because if the play isn't dead, you have to still control a player. What do you do than?
