I'd like to see some more opinions on this.
Especially the co-op part.

I rarely use it on offense (unless i've thrown a hail mary and want my guy to actual make an effort by facing to catch the ball) but i mostly use it when trying to intercept the cpu, tend to do it instinctively.

Re: User Catching in Madden 10 & Co-op play

I'd actually like to see where you'd have to make timing more of a premium on user catch. Then you'd see animations where the WR tried to make the catch and missed. I agree about the goofy looking touchdown animation, but maybe if you mistime it could trigger an animation where he either dives or the ball just bounces off of you. I think that user catching is way too easy and not really realistic. It's hard to catch a football in RL, and you should really have to work for it.

And please for the love of pete, get rid of the rocket catch once and for all. Only Randy Moss or a big receiver with hops should ever be able to go up like that for the ball. If you try with a 6'0 or under guy who doesn't have big ups they should go into a flailing 1 handed attempt where maybe they'll be able to tip the ball up and possibly come down with it. The premium should be on the QB to put it on the numbers.

Don't really play against a lot of friends, mostly computer, so co-op isn't really a big deal.

Just watched your vid. That's what I'd like it to see as well. But if you mistime the button, it should make you dive early or late and have a realistic outcome. Nice vid!

Re: User Catching in Madden 10 & Co-op play

User catching is extremely important to me. On both sides of the ball. Everything I do is user. I'll admit however, my user tackling isn't always so pretty ha ha. But I love controlling my WR's and DB's and making that user catch\pic. Wouldn't have it any other way.

If there is no user catching, you may as well make it a text based game.

We play the game on sticks, it should make sense that stick skill + timing will give your receiver/defender the best CHANCE to catch the ball.

Totally agreed. Just want it to be like Fifa where the onus is really on good timing and the controls are responsive enough to make you feel like you did something with the sticks to make said spectacular play...
