Phil, I have a question for ya man. What started the total overhaul in EA sports towards sim play this year (last year if you count fifa and hockey) ? I'm very curious. The sim community is a very small percentage of the Madden fanbase I suppose.

Was it us as a community that lit fires under each individual dev team? Was it something coming down from higher authorities, whats the real reason this overhaul has been happening for the past 2 years?

I'm currently tracking Fight Night, NCAA, and Madden, and I'm getting the same vibe from the devs of each team. Deep realistic gameplay, sim style. What gives?

I can't speak for the other product. The push for us has come from a change in our design team. With a new design team comes new priorities. Hopefully it's a direction that not only appeals to the hardcore fans out there but also the folks that want to play a kick @ss game of football. I'm far from a hockey fan but NHL did a great job of providing a fun and authentic hockey experience. I hope Madden provides the same this year.
