lol... yeah so you basically don't know what you are talking about.

All games are written with code but different games require different code for different aspects of the game (especially if you are going to compare games of completely different genres). For sports games you gotta take into account the various modes they usually have, team/player stats, etc. It's a lot of info...

Re: ESPN License

God damn dude, do you play any other games besides sports ones? Stats, schedules, all that type of stuff take absolutely no memory whatsoever, they're single numbers to enter into a form, and yes I've done programming before and I know that. Different modes? Like what?!?! Different menus are what dictates different modes, but the core gameplay always remains the same in Madden. I don't get how you don't understand what I'm saying, it's amazing how blind Madden fanboys are sometimes. Even ESPN 2k5 (OH NOEZ) had more depth and detail than 09 does, and the disk was way smaller. YOU obviously have no idea what you're talking about if you think disk space is a problem. Now I'm not saying it's not a problem right now, but with a game so transparent and simple as Madden, it shouldn't be a problem. What next, are you going to tell me that Madden's robust A.I system takes up the disk space? Once again...go play GTA or Oblivion. Not to say those games have perfect A.I, but I will vouch that it's leagues above Madden.

Just in case for some reason you still don't get it, I'll compare teams in Madden to classes in Oblivion. You have 32 NFL teams, with the ONLY difference between them being the uniform and the home stadium designated to them. Now with Oblivion, you have a ton of different ethniticies (Elves, Man, etc), on top of different main abilities (Magic vs Physical), AND on top of skill sets (major skills and minor skills). Now you tell me, with a straight face, which one seems like it'd take up more disk space and more complicated code.

Re: ESPN License

I know they cant use ESPN due to the NFL wanting to promote their own brand, but has there been an explanation why full NFL network style presentation has not been used thus far?

I play many other games outside of sports...

I just used stats as an example of just a small thing that has a lot of info that you might not find in the type of games that you are describing.

When it comes to most sports game modes, there's more to them than just different menus.

lol I'm talking about sports games in general and yet you bring up Madden like I'm focusing just on that. This discussion can be about any sports game... And I enjoyed 2k5 (as did most people here on these forums) so I don't know why you said the whole "Oh Noes" bit...

Again you are comparing completely different games. I can understand if we were talking sports games but you aren't using that for your examples...

lol I find your last paragraph to be kinda funny. You said that the only difference between the teams are just the uniform (shouldn't it be uniforms?) and the stadiums. What about the players (which btw have different races too) and their skill sets (some being better in running, catching, etc.)? You are using examples in an RPG game (which btw I find kinda ridiculous) that are in a way, in sports games also (and not just madden). Yet you are saying that they don't feature those things.

Your argument is just flawed.

Did you read what i posted, i never commented on whether it was a good use of the license. I just stated they do use it.

Since EA is the only NFL game, basically they can't go all in on either ESPN or NFL Network presentation without hurting somebody's feelings...

Re: ESPN License

As I already posted, the real question is :

Why will EA actually do something like " 2K Halftime/postgame shows" when they will sell the same 4.5 million copies regardless?

EA knows that NFL fans that play videogames will buy Madden every year even though it's the same game with something new like Outside stadium shots.

Take my beloved Superdome as an example.
EA still has pics of Joe Horn and Aaron Brooks in the endzone.
Those pics were gone in 2005. Does EA know that? Yes.
Do they care? No. Why? Why should they?

Makes sense... terrible sense.. why don't they use both? implement them both, ESPN game presentation with an NFL network highlights show. MAKE THEM BOTH HAPPY! They have the rights to both correct?
