Why do people get worked up over ratings?

I don't get this. We're in April and people are already getting worked up over the ratings whether the player be overrated or underrated. It's only in April... ratings can change or get updated.

Why go crazy over rookie ratings? These guys have not even played one snap in the NFL! How do you expect EA to project them? If EA or any other NFL scout can project these players, we would see every GM draft the right player with each pick.

I don't get why people complain over this player being too slow or his overall is not good. First of all, overall is just a load of crock. What is important is the key ratings for each position. Like Pat White, he is a 61 overall. But if you look closer at his ratings, you will find out he can be an effective player. Why do people judge speed based on 40 times? This is Madden FOOTBALL not Madden Track and Field. Speed is not baed on 40 times. Madden speed is based on how fast a player plays with football pads on.

Also with ratings, ratings are meant to be relative. In the Madden world, players are rated relative to one another. This is just a fake example to make a point. But don't complain if Devin Hester's speed is a 93. If Hester is a 93 and the next fastest player is 88, then it's all good. So as long as ratings mesh well with other plays relatively, then it will be ok.

Lastly, the game is patchable. Rosters are always tweaked and updated throughout the season. Ratings will change once players prove themselves. Don't get worked up over rookie ratings. How about let them play first and then adjust accordingly? Watch last year as Chris Johnson and Matt Forte blew up. Then update it. No need to overhyped a rookie when you have not seen him play a snap.

If you don't like a rating, you can always change it yourself. I hope EA concentrates on other things with the game then care about what people say about ratings. There's more important things to focus on for the developers than some armchair football homer GM who is complaining because his favorite player is a speed 91 instead of a 93.

Cause they are homers and too blind to see how the ratings work this year.

Yeah I think they should play the game the first to see how the ratings work then worry in April. I would be more worried about other things than ratings like A.I., money plays, and other core game mechanics than superficial ratings. Ratings can be tweaked. Core game mechanics cannot.

Because it affects gameplay. The gameplay could be great, but if the ratings are off players aren't going to play true to life. Sufficient rating problems can actually break a game pretty significantly.

Yeah, poor ratings in NBA 2k9 borked the game pretty hard. Especially the default rosters where everyone had too high 3P Shooting.
