When I refer to passion, I don't mean positive or negative opinions, just opinions and thoughts period.

For the love of God/Allah/Jessica Alba or whomever you choose to worship, please don't turn this into a fanboy fight.

Just answer the question.

Well of course it is- it's the first time the developers actually seem to care about our direct opinions concerning the game. This year's development cycle has been a breakthrough. Now, whether or not it pans out is another story - but at least there's hope!

Nike. Just do it. Thats the what they need to do with game. Just do what you gotta do make this game the best its ever been in a long time.

Edit: and to answer your question I wouldn't be involved this much in any other game not even fight Night and lord knows i love my fight night. This is the most exciting title for me to play or just discuss anyway.

I don't even think there is a question.
If you factor in the development teams openness to answer the passionate questions of fans and critics, their quick response and the feel that we as the consumer have a say in what our game will be like, then there is no doubt this Madden is the most passionate I have ever been a part of!

Re: Has there ever been this much passion about a video football game? (Madden 10)

I think there was even more passion back when there were multiple options. Discussions back then were a lot more substantive imo. You had people on either side that could make a case why the game they liked was better at [whatever] and the competition made all the games better. Right now you could make the case that people would be overjoyed with something they'd considered good. Back in '97-'04 you had games performing at their top level, many of which were introducing new concepts/constantly pushing the genre forward (Gameday going with polygons, NFL2K1 going online w/Dreamcast, Madden pushing online play into the stratosphere... even NFL Fever w/it's innovations).

Right now it doesn't seem to be as much about passion as it is about people just wanting to play a competent game after years of NFL exclusivity. Half the time people spend reminiscing about the old days or older football game efforts - so much so that they're used as examples for the game now. Back then I could remember how forums were filled with talk of franchise experiences, or online/tournament battles, etc. Now it's more about being happy that the only choice we have is on the right track. It's one of those situations where if you're starving, any food you get is going to taste like a gourmet meal. Of course, this game really may be a gourmet meal - but no way to tell that just yet

I dont really know, You go on different forums, youtube, gametrailers, ign, places like that, and A LOT of people still say Madden will be the same as always.

OS and the EA forum members are the only ones who talk about and really follow all the updates. So id say its limited to 400 people maybe and thats just a fraction of the sales.
