Sounds like a dead end to me. They'll never stop the game from being copied, but they can maybe slow it down.

Re: Madden 10 on Pc

Why not give us a PC version with Jersey Add-ons, and patches for certain gameplay features that you have to purchase online? This would keep most PC users honest.

So basically you would be selling the PC version in 2 parts. You would have a "base version" for download or sold in stores (would of course have security). Then part 2 extras: Alternate jerseys etc for purchase online. This buys you time as users would have to purchase these upgrades to have a complete game on the PC platform. Maybe all adding up to the potential $39.99 sale price. This probably could all be done through steam or some other system.

Also if they add a PC exclusive feature or mode to the PC version (could also be an add-on) that would also be a great incentive for PC users and would drive sales. Add an NFL combine mini-game or something. With extra additions the PC version with upgrades could cost more than the console version which would be very profitable.

There's really no reason for PC gamers not to have Madden this year.

The rumor floating around about this years game is that they considered a pc version, but then decided not to go ahead with it. Instead expect them to pursue a browser based download that is some version of the game.

I think the payoff though will be that they will put together the best version of online franchise ever in Madden history. Unfortunately us PC users wont get to enjoy it in 2010.

At least we have the right team of guys working on the game. That's the first step. The other stuff is EA doing what EA typically does.

I also hear 2k is putting together a team for a PC based game this year, but the game likely wouldn't be ready till 2k11 or 2k12

Re: Madden 10 on Pc

In the end, it all comes down to revenue. EA doesn't believe that, with the current state of piracy, they can reap enough profit from a PC release, especially when it will take money to port...so until they feel comfortable that the bottom line will be padded sufficiently from a PC version, I wouldn't expect one...sucks, but that's business...

the last question is :

I dont know if anybody asked yet but, is madden nfl 10 going to be released on PC and if yes its going to be a xbox 360 port. (Submitted by lucasc130 and others)

"I think [EA Sports president Peter Moore] said it multiple times… there's a lot of PCs out there. We know there's a market for a PC title, so we're looking at that experience, we're looking at the PC market, trying to design a game that would appeal to that audience, as well as solve some of the piracy issues that we see. The fact is that it just wasn't a great business for us [in the past]. So, we're looking at it and we're working on it right now and once we have a solution, we'll be sure to announce it to everybody."

I really hope they will find a solution before long
What about a price drop and then selling/streaming it online (which I'm sure is cheaper than producing discs, shipping it, and then allowing retailers to sell it at much higher price)? There might be some price point which would increase the number of purchase to the point where the revenue drop due to the lower price from the current price is less than the cost of piracy. In fact, if they distribute it themselves online they can probably charge more to sell directly to the consumer than they do for distributors and game producers. Then they can sell if for less than it retails. More consumers buy it because it's cheaper than in the stores and EA reaps the revenue of increased purchaser and sales prices (from their perspective). Any one good with demand curves, cost calculations, and sales projections?
