Progressive Weather & Field Conditions

To me, this is one of if NOT the most important aspects of the game other than gameplay obviously. I'd like to know if Ian & EA feel the same. Will we see abominable weather conditions ie. Lambeau field or Foxborough in Madden 10? The weather will have the most affect on the total score of the game. bad punts and missed field goals, fumbles, terrible footing,etc...

xtreme snow: A few games per year are affected by snow to such an extent that normal gameplay is impossible and this will have a direct negative effect on everyone involved with the exception of the defenses who should do well directly related to the lowered scoring, decreased total yardage , and high turn over rate, The simple act of dropping back to pass is too dangerous to attempt. Kicking a 30 yard field goal is an iffy proposition at best and footing is impossible to come by making moving the ball hard.

Rain is the most serious weather condition. In a driving rain or high winds, offenses have trouble throwing deep with accuracy, anything too long stands a good chance of being an errant throw from the rain or wind.
thus minimizing the passing game forcing the QB to look for the short passes, Consequently they often rely more on running the ball more while avoiding the long ball. Defenses are also aware of the difficulty in the passing game, and will utilize formations and schemes that are stronger against the run and short to mid-range passes. these poor conditions can also cause a spike in fumbles and interceptions. SO, does the weather REALLY play an important roll in Madden 10? thanks

Weather doesn't have enough settings in this game either. We can't even select our temperatures, lol. You can't even mix wind with snow or wind with rain. But you do that in 07 and 08.

I'd have to hope that there is a technical reason for this, but if not then that's just a shame. Weather is so important, yet we're left with extremes only and no middle grounds.

I doubt we will see it in Madden 10 although it would be amazing to recreate a game like the Bills vs. Browns snow game a while back. Also in extreme conditions they should just drop certain ratings down like if you set it to the most extreme condition everyones speed should go down 10-15 points.

COMPLETELY agree with the OP. Weather is SUCH a huge part of football, and with Tiger Woods 10 adding dynamic weather this year, this is something they should really look in to. As well as what the poster above said, there should definitely be some ratings hits to every team.

(IE Cardinals playing the Pats last year in the snow game and getting blown out)

yea also agree with you this would make the game more life like u never can predict whats going happen when u throw a deep ball u see it always on tv when its windy the ball is short or way off target like that one punter few years ago punt the ball and it only went like 15 yards which was crazy and it be cool if u in shot gun / under center the the qb fumbles it or the center hike the ball to high and it flyys over the qb head it make the game more real even u wont like it at times but that happens in NFL so it should be in the game as well just do it to much

Re: Progressive Weather & Field Conditions

I agree 100%. But i dont think we are gonna get that in M10 nor M11. i think we will more than likely see it on the NEXT generation of consoles.

The way it is now, Weather has pretty much has zero impact on the game played. Wind is irrelevent. Snow is pretty much just a visual thing and rain is either On or Off. The field for the most part is the same at the begining as it is in the end of the game.

In madden 08 (i believe) the field degraded WAY too much, then the effect all but vanished in 09 in favor of players getting WAy to dirty in conditions where they shouldn't. If they could just find a balance in this area i would be happy.

We will se come 8/14

Re: Progressive Weather & Field Conditions

I don't know if it was in Madden '09 or not(didn't play it), but in NCAA 10, players will be able to slip in the rain. haven't heard if anything else would be affected though.
