Is the "defensive key" feature in Madden

Sorry if this has been addressed elsewhere. Is the pre-snap "defensive key" feature that's in NCAA 10, where you either guess run right, run left, or pass in Madden?

This feature is pretty horribly designed. As was shown in a recent IGN video, if you guess run left or right, your entire defense essentially flows to that side of the field as soon as the ball is snapped. Defenses don't guess "run left" versus "run right" versus "run middle" in real life. They either come up aggressively on run action, or they drop aggressively/pass rush aggressively on the snap of the ball. And most of what defenses do to play against run or pass is primarily determined by pre-snap alignment.

So, is this feature going to be in Madden, and if so, is it going to be designed the same way.

It is already in the 09' man, where have you been? It's called run/pass committ and I agree, it sucks.

So regular run commit actually commits to runs up the middle, rather than just committing to runs in general? For some reason, I thought regular run commit (r-stick down) was like a blanket run commit. This feature seems to imply that if you want to commit to the run, you have to also pick the side that they run to. So that if you run commit middle and they run a toss or something, then you'd actually be more vulnerable than if you had done nothing.

I would guess not but I'm not sure. Madden is making ENOURMOUS strides as far as sim-style goes, and NCAA isn't even taking baby steps.

I agree its a terrible feature. No defense "guesses" where the ball is going to go. It's called read and react.

not guess, but a good lb or safety can pick up in tendencies or tells pre-snap and figure out where a play is going.
