Player number in Madden 2010

I still have not found an answer if this has been addressed in Madden 2010. Forgive me if I have missed it.

Has anyone brought up the numbering system for players?

For example, if I draft a college running back with the #5 or a line backer with the #31 will they carry those numbers to the NFL or will Madden assign them uniform numbers that fall in line with the NFL prerequisites?

I know it seems like a small thing, but there is nothing more annoying than watching a bunch of NFL teams have players run around with numbers that they cannot wear in the NFL.

I am hoping one of two changes will happen in Madden 2010.

1. There will be some sort logic that assigns appropriate numbers to players based on their position

OR

2. The user has the ability to edit ALL players, not just those on his/her team.

It may be a lot to ask, but I'd really like for Retired numbers to be respected.

I hated seeing other players signed or whatever and some other random scrub wearing the #92 jersey for Green Bay.

That's why I like option 2 personally.

Back on the PS2/XBox, after each draft I would go through each team making sure that the numbers didn't conflict with any retired numbers and/or illogical numbers for their position.

Has EA ever said why it is so difficult to allow the USER to edit ALL the players, opposed to just their team?

Not only that but has Ian acknowledged whether the players being assigned #1 or #2 has been fixed? I hated my RG being #3, just ridiculous....

Having a starting left tackle with the #1 is a pretty big deal to me.

Why spend all of time trying to make the game "authentic" as far as jersey's, equipment, etc, then blow it by allowing a simple number/database issue get in the way?
