I too participate in the Maddenoliday and am open about it. My time request sheet always reads:

Reason for request:To get my Madden groove on, fool.

It's a small company and we all have our own eccentricities.

As an IT Professional, if I take a PTO day and tell them before our 3week iteration of work, I will be okay. People take PTO days to do DJ gigs.

But I could see someone doing that at my job to a cubical... they wrapped a friend of mine's entire cube (chair and all) in wrapping paper. It was hilarious.

Thats hilarious. Ive been lucky that my boss always gives me the day NCAA comes out off. She doesnt do it on purpose it always just worked out that way. She knows nothing about the game and what day it comes out but year after year I get that tuesday off.
