Running Animation: I think know the problem
Okay long story short, aside from a few tweaks, the running animation isn't bad. Basically the problem is that is has no life to it. You've hit that "wall" or whatever where it's so good at simulating a run it isn't realistic.
Think of it like a cats tail. In a video game it might just wag back in forth, but in real life a cats tail is almost like a completely different life form, like it has a mind of its' own.
This is the problem with Madden when it comes to the arms, legs, and head. It's caught in simulating a person running, and they don't have character. The arms and legs are too stiff. The animation needs subtle variances in the arms, and even more subtle variations in the legs to make it realistic.
The arms also needs to be reactionary. Go watch a video of Dangelo Williams running and look at how is arms react to players near him who don't even touch him.
The Madden team has IMO done a fine job of animating a runner, they just need to add life to it to make us believe it.
