lol... somehow I think the cost/reward ratio is a bit off with your suggestion. Plus, I have a hard time paying for my toys.

Yeah it's a 52 inch.

I traded out a 52 inch Vizio plasma for a 52 inch Toshiba LCD.

Also Vaderez a good way to keep plasmas from burning is to take them out of "torch mode".

Basically, drop the contrast and brightness to around 50%. It looks dark at first but you get used to it after awhile and it looks just as good.

It helps a bunch.

And yet people spend thousands of dollars on trips, or $30 to 50k on cars every day. IMHO you should put your money where your time is spent, and I spend a lot of time playing games and watching movies. I dropped nearly 7k on my surround system (7.1 Klipsch with front end speakers for the rear / pioneer receiver), and another 3.5k on the TV (guessing about 5 years ago now). Like I said, I'll get another TV once the prices on the 70 inches come down to reasonable amount. I don't mind spending a lot of $$$, but I'm usually pretty patient in my buying decisions regardless of product.

Yup, very good suggestion. That was actually one of the first things I did for the television. The contrast is actually a little blow 50, but I had to keep the brightness at around 65.

Best option when a calibration is not possible...

Here's a website for those looking for TV settings that will help with the issues talked about in this thread...

www.tweaktv.com

Hit the tweak my TV option. but your TV model in & settings will pop-up. This website was created by Professional Calibrators..
