Man this game is beautiful, Throwing off the back league you can't make those crazy passes. Tacklers grab and hold onto one leg, the trenches are amazing oh and the tips passes! Bounces off one player and another dives for the interception.

Man, this game is great.

hmm, I may have to check it out..I'm not sure if I played it before. I always thought in Madden you could run backwards 25+ yards and throw an accurate pass way down field, throwing across your body. So in Madden 2004 this isn't possible?

How about bad suction blocking/tackling or mario running - are they in 2004?

As a matter of fact...I just popped in Madden 04 this morning and created a profile and everything. I'm probably gonna start getting back into it.

Man, I love the kick meter so much better back in 04 and 05 because its no where near as automatic. Field goals actually have drama to them.

...and create a playbook (which you can actually use in franchise mode) is great.

06-08 on XBox were far better than 04 and 05. 04 was unbalanced in the offence's favor and was the begining of the rocket catch. Not even user rocket catches. Just throw high lobs to players like Raiders' Teyo Johnson and anyone else with like 97+ jump and watch them burn the D all day long. 05 was a solid game, but filled with bugs. If you just played a game like the colts with formation shifts, you would be abusing the fatigue bug/glitch and other problems when trying to play a sim game. 06 and 07 were my favorite on Xbox, but I enjoyed my 08 before trading my stuff in for a 360 [didn't know how bad next gen was...]

I think that you should try and get 06, or 07 for Xbox 1 and see the vast improvements over 04 and 05. Balance between O and D via playmakers and aditional options/audibles/etc. combined with better franchise presentation and such made for some of the best madden gaming I have ever had. The probelm is that after 2k5 came out, everyone was busy comparing 06+ against 2k5 and those games don't get the credit I feel they deserve.
