Yeah now that I think about it, I'd much rather have the generic face like NCAA then have Drew Brees' face on my new defensive lineman or Pat Williams' face on my new speedy wide receiver.

NCAA works well with the cartoon faces and I think it would work for Madden as well. Plus, the developers would get to show off their new facial artwork even more if they used them as portraits.

I really hope a dev sees this and it is not too late. It sounds like it would be uncomplicated to be a last minute add on but obviously I have no idea.

EDIT: Now that I think about it, if we aren't able to have some sort of generic face there, I'd rather not have anything at all than have a silhouette. Just simply don't put a space for a picture on players without pics. The silhouette drains personality out of the players rather than doing what is intended to do (which I assume is to add personality). I'd definitely prefer the generic face though.

Head Coach had this, and Madden will have the same kind of premade draft classes, so that gives me hope

Re: Madden player faces instead of blank silhouette portraits for rookies

Quick FYI - we brought over all the portraits from Head Coach, so our rookies that get generated do have player portraits now. They are 3d renders instead of real pictures, but once you see it I think you will all agree that it looks way better than the gray silhouette (which unfortunately does still happen when you import an NCAA draft class...we couldn't figure out a way to bring over their portrait art without making the file sizes massive).

So there you have it. It's better, but not yet perfect. Josh, Donny, and I have some pretty wacky ideas on how to improve this for next year.

Sounds good. The player creation is one thing I'm stoked about this year out of most things. I think the player creator in Tiger Woods spoiled me a bit in terms of accuracy, but even something closer to 08's system would be a step above 09's.
