Question about Madden Online Pre-ordering/Ship Date

Ok - this game is scheduled to SHIP from most online retailers on Friday, August 14, 2009. (Gamestop, etc...)


Does that mean if we pre-order with overnight shipping, we won't actually get the game until the following Monday?

Or does that mean we will get the game delivered ON Friday 8-14-2009?

I want to be able to play the game that Friday, so if I have to I'll just do an in-store pre-order and pick it up myself.

Does anyone know how that is going to work? I can't seem to get any confirmation from Gamestop or anyone else on this.

Most sites like GameStop guarantee street date delivery, which means you'll more than likely get it on the 14th if you order from them.

We have a site here in the UK called shopto.net, usually when you preorder a game it actually arrives a day before the official release. This is because they have a guarantee that you have by the release date, so they usually ship it with enough time to spare. It's wicked!

That's what I figured - I just wanted to be sure before I go ahead and take the plunge.

By the end of E3 I think I'll have my mind made up on this one. I'm definitely leaning toward pre-ordering the game.

I just want to make sure I'm not locked out of it until that following Monday if I do go for it.

You should preorder online and instore, that way you're guaranteed to get one on release day! THen just return the one that arrives second!

I just came acros this on the Gamestop page for the Madden 10 Pre-Order:

"Pre-order Madden NFL 2010 by August the 13th at 11am CST with overnight shipping and get guaranteed delivery on the street date of August the 14th! If your product does not arrive on the street date, we will fully refund your shipping charge. Continental United States only. Must have Overnight Service available in your area. Offer void if you are unable to accept a delivery that was attempted. I would say go to your local game store and preorder there instead. Just so you know that you will get it that very next day.

I was gonna say you should get it on the street date, as the big time game stores like gamestop get their games in stores and at shipping centers a few days before. I remember going into my local gamestop where my buddy was manager, and he had madden like 3 days earlier.
