I don't understand how this game is being interpreted as "half-baked". It's shaping up fine and come August, after the necessary tuning, QA, etc., we will all be playing a great football video game.

The idea that Madden would get delayed is also a bit unrealistic; this game is one of EA's cash cows, they can't afford for this game to miss the release date.

Yeah I agree with countryboy.

Also, if you are judging the problems of the game based on the E3 videos, you gotta realize that the E3 build is older and some of the problems about it either have been fixed or are getting fixed.

No they have a plan to release the game, the game will never be perfect and it is definitely not half baked.

Plus, with the ability to patch games, releasing your own line of products on top of each other makes no sense, if the reason is to basically tune the game more(fix bugs). I understand as a consumer this may not be what we want, but from a business standpoint it makes sense.

And I seen in the above post, you stated what would you do in EA's shoes? Well, I'd do the same thing they are doing...release the game on the promised date and patch in that extra month or so what I can. From a business standpoint, holding the game really gains you little benefit. People are going to buy the game upon the release, why hold it and compete with your other products, when you can just put out a patch that fixes what you would be holding the game to fix?

Agreed for the most part, but I don't think EA has to worry about competition from its other sports games stealing Madden's thunder. It's easily EA's best-selling sports title, especially in the States. No other game comes close. Madden is in the Top 20 in software sales for the entire NFL season (and even in January/February sometimes); most of the other games are lucky to be in the Top 20 in the first month of release, if that. FIFA probably does as well or better worldwide, but certainly not here, at least I don't think so.

Any problems they can't fix pre-release, they will patch post release.
Lets just hope that the fixes needed are minor rather than freezing issues we experienced last year.

Re: Should EA push back the release date to get the game right?

hell no!!!! the game looks and plays well already. As far as sideline catches, there in the game. I think the game will be tweaked the next few weaks . there is really not much the game needs at this point

i mean from the videos, i think the game plays better than last year. I have heard nothing but good things from people at e3.

i dont see any reason to postpone it.........

That's the point, they wouldn't want Madden to steal sales from some of EA's other titles.

They wouldn't be worried about Madden, but they WOULD worry about the other games.

This isn't the first time they've released a half baked game.
Half baked?? The games not even out yet and its half baked? Although the game should be going gold very soon, to call Madden 10 half baked at this point ....especially without even playing it yourself is ridiculous.
