I'd like to know why this is a concern for eveyone's buying patterns. My reason, even though as a single player I was bored to tears with all NG offering, I purchase to have one vs one battles with our son, if that is ok with you.

No, not at all!! My remark was simply to the statement that he buys it, regardless of quality or lack thereof, simply because it is Madden. That is EXACTLY why the game has taken the dive it did in previous years, EA had zero incentive to improve because the masses would have bought a stale turd in a box if it had Madden on the cover.
