What's the full legalities with the NFL License?

How long does EA have this monopoly on NFL videogaming? Is there any where we can see the full agreement online. When does it end, does EA have a timeframe when they can lock it up again before it's over for a price. Does this all come down to money? I love football and i love videogames, but this isn't right fair for gamers or developers. I was in love with the Maddens of last gen, and hope they can return to form on next gen, but i have to admit it; i would love to sometime soon see a competitive nature again in this genre. It would only make Madden better...

That aside, they recently (within the last couple years) re-upped their exclusive contract and I believe they have it locked up until 2012.

Damn 2012 is too long by then the 2K guys had already given up on football and if they do they would have to start from scratch.

Let's pray 2K is secretly working on an NFL game for the future. They will have all the time in their hands to improve on it for next-gen.

EA will never allow another developer aquire the NFL license, they will simply put a new bid in before their next contract expires. So for the the rest of our gaming lives, Madden is going to be the only NFL licensed football game we'll see. It's hard to accept but there is nothing anyone can do about it.

I doubt we'll ever see another football game from 2k sports, unless they somehow aquire NFL rights. We all know that will never happen with EA's clutch on the license.

2k sports lost tons of money on APF, mainly cause the lack of full rights to the NFL. Yea they had some Legendary NFL players, but with no modern rosters and no real teams a football game is really going be hard to sell.

2k sports and take-two aren't going release another game that loses money. We where lucky to get APF.
