Have had a launch day 360 with no problems in the basement. Your mileage may vary I guess?

My friend got his first RRoD days after the last update, and he was always making sure to take good care of his console. I think dashboard changes can definitly cause be a final straw that causes the RRoD on a 360.

I love my 360, but I'm happy having my ps3 as my main system now. Everytime I turn on my 360, I always wonder if it will be the last time it turns on.

Anyone who thinks their PS3 is safe is either unaware of the YLOD or is in denial (look it up). Fact is, both systems have their own failure problems now.

The only difference is with 360, you get a full free 3 year warranty. With PS3 you get 1 year and then, it's $150.00 for a repair.

lol...well, I would think the other difference would be frequency of occurrence.

Obviously, no hardware is 100% reliable...they all have a chance to fail. MS just has a system with (still) a very high rate of failure by comparison. There's a reason they extended that warranty, after all.

That said, I have both systems and my 360 is a very early model. I had it for 3 years before I ran into an issue and MS was very prompt in their service...the entire turnaround was about 10-14 days.

The irony is, it was Madden 09 that I RROD'd on...lol. Entirely unrelated, but amusing nonetheless. Anyway, I see no correlation between a dashboard update, Madden, and a RROD.
