Videos go in the impressions thread. No more creating your own thread to make videos. It goes in the impressions thread.

As much as i hate Apex's videos. This is very true. The sliding off hits happens ALOT and the window for when defenders get engaged needs to be fine tuned.

Even though he brings up good points, it gets lost because it's about 20 seconds of insightful comments and 5 min of trash talking fluff that's just pointless and beating a dead horse. We get it, a certain replay shows a mistake in the game. I don't want to see you run through the play 15 times and try to come up with a slightly different way to explain what's wrong with it.

Because he takes shots at OS, EA DEFENDERS, EA, TIBURON. THE EA SUPPORTERS IN THE MATRIX. And talks for too long.

And after his initial wave of videos. His motive now seems sketchy.

I watch a lot of his videos.

But he turns a 60 second clip into a 7 minute rant.

And Ian says he watches them too.

Re: EA focused on Pro Tak but why neglect the all important double hit tackle?

It's because the current Madden game engine is still very much 1-dimensional, in terms of multiple-player contact.

Pro-Tak is a band-aid, IMO. It doesn't fix this problem. It simply adds a variable to allow for a big group-hug.

Primary tackling in this game continues to be an equation between TWO players - the ball carrier and the primary tackler. Pro-Tak only allows for multiple group-huggers, and only if the "stand-up" animation has already been triggered.

But as far as basic collision detection, there is nothing dynamic about tackling in this game. If a tackler is engaged with a ball carrier, other tacklers will simply bounce off the first two players unless an animation sequence is triggered.

Those two players instantly become the equivalent of the blocking dummies in practice mode. They become a single "object" that the other players on the field will bounce off of unless those two are separated again.

It's been like that in Madden for years and they either refuse to change it or don't know how to change it.

Fast forward to 1:55 in this Apex video of APF 2K8.

Notice how there's an initial interaction with the first defender and it leads immediately into another one by the other defender, who finishes him off. The first guy arm-wraps the runner up high, standing him up and slowing his run. Then the other defender comes in high andflattens him.

In Madden, interaction with the first defender would block-out the second defender until the two players were "released" from each other. The only time you would see Pro-Tak kick in is if the player is stood up - but the problem is the only thing that happens is that the group-hug animation activates.

There's no high-low interaction in Madden - or any of the multi-impact stuff that the 2K games have.

Apex is right people. You may not like it, but he's right.
