Can everything about players be edited, including their potential rating?

Answer: Unfortunately, player potential, physical appearance (height, weight, hair, tattoos, face type, etc.) and age cannot be edited for existing players. You can create players from scratch obviously, and adjust their rating for nearly any category you can think of, except for potential. I believe you are automatically granted a potential rating after creation, but I’ve yet to determine the factors that play into this.
SO... we can edit ratings, but not potential???

And we can't edit anything about appearance? I wonder if this is also true about the pre-made rookies- if we can't edit anything about them.

And that last line- when we create a player, we can't choose their potential rating, its decided for us? I hope thats not true.

You can hope but it is obviously true at this point.

Yeah that is a little disappointing. I was hoping that we could edit player's sizes etc....Oh well, maybe next year.

Indeed, we should be able to do so. Why not let us create who we want.

However, if we are not able to do so, I'm sure someone will figure out how to give someone a high potential rating. I think that it will likely be tied to awareness, height and strength related to a position. Who knows? Yet, I'm sure we'll find a way.

Re: This is disappointing news about editing players

Why cant we change someone's potential if we can change all of their attributes to 99 if we wanted to...? Just because EA thinks a player is going to be X good doesnt mean we should not have the power offline to change it.

I like to redo the rosters for my offline franchise and to find out I will not be able to change someone's potential really does blow. I can understand the height, weight, college, age, ect ect but why cant we change their potential? Also, why cant we choose what our created player's potential is going to be? Wouldnt it make sense to have a random potential button and also allow us to change it ourselves if we want that player to become the next Manning. You would please the people who want a random potential and would please the people who want to choose what it is. Seriously some of these decisions seem like obvious things to setup to please everyone...Instead you just make a bunch of people go "why" and then others who will get extremely upset.

As long as draft info stops changing when you edit a player I will live.

Re: This is disappointing news about editing players

I'm not a fan of editing player ratings, feels like cheese. Not being able to edit player hair is annoying to me though because there is usually 4-5 players on every team with the wrong hair. Rookie DBs seem to get dreads by default (Richard Marshall '07) because of the annoying trend in the NFL. Sometimes players change it up and the folks at EA don't know. I remember Brenston Buckner wore dreads during 1 training camp and he was stuck with them in the next 3 Maddens because his NFL.com photo was never updated after that. Not a big deal, just saying.
