Haha, exactly what I was thinking. Saints and Panthers are both fairly high-scoring offenses, but in general, I'm always a bit bummed about how high-scoring madden games are.

It all boils down to defense in my opinion. I have played games online where we both kept stopping each other (which resulted in a low scoring affair) and vice versa. It happens. A real NFL game is usually all dink and dunk offense with the occasional PA and/or deep throws. Most people don't play that way online, which results in a higher scoring game.

In Madden it has always been generally easy to break open plays. Don't know what it is... but I know that it's hard as heck to get that same score when playing some other football games.

Perhaps it was the fast game speed? Was the game played on a fast game speed?

I did look a lot faster than the demo. Maybe even a couple of notches faster.

I play almost exclusively offline so mostly I was talking about vs cpu. Human vs human is going to turn a bit arcade'ish every time and I'm mostly okay with that -- 99% of people aren't interested in playing the Lions vs other humans and getting killed because their team sucks no matter what they do.

But for offline, I'd love it if you could craft a modern steel curtain and win your games 10-3 and whatnot, or celebrate because you went 7-9 with the Rams.

Online franchise has the potential to bring that offline experience into online play though, where you've got a season to work with rather than a 10 minute game. Maybe in another year or two :-) I think its the most promising new feature.

On the game speed:

I clocked porter from roughly the 43 yard line to the goaline. He didn't run in a straight line and slowed at the end. Took him 5.5 seconds..

I then used a Lito Sheppard highlight clip where he does the same celebration at the end of a long INT for TD but in a straight line..Took him 5.4 seconds..

Game speed seems a little fast to me, I'd think Lito Sheppard runs faster than Porter IRL.

But did you take into account the physics of acceleration, trepidation and the wind and ground resistance during the time day?

Quantum law disallows such comparisons be made in the mornings.

I'm a stickler for game speed this year with the adjustment sliders. I'd think normal is still a bit too fast.

In all seriousness, Porter didn't have a head start at the :43, didn't run in a straight line, and still ran took the same amount of time than a real video clip of a Lito starting a full speed and in a straight line.

Oh and I never complained about you being too meticulous with your slider posts there slider guy.
