although is has vastly improved, it's still the same game from what he said. My favorite, superstar mode, has been unchanged and sounds stripped down (my biggest gripe). That will keep it from being perfect and he said the AI and co-op aren't the smoothest either. It nothing than can't be fixed, like using physics based animating or putting some effort to make SS mode great, but hey.

Every other NG Madden shouldn't have even been able to sniff anything above an 8(Thats being generous too)


Of course I have to play the full game, but I don't see it being anything higher then a 8.4.......

but that doesn't mean Im not looking forward to the game...Its just not a true next generation type of football game yet

Even they had problems. People seem to forget the bad franchise modes, the QB scrambling, the very effective hot routes and running game, the frequency of people catching balls with 3-4 men on them, etc. The great presentation and animations covered that stuff up for some I guess. But yeah... like I said, I don't want to start a war.

First of all, a review score is not something which to use to bitch and moan about a game, which some of you have done without even playing the full version etc.

Secondly, the review seems fair to me. Ignore what Madden 09 got, because it was obviously more than it deserved. 8.9 is very good, and would put Madden probably in the top 20 PS3 games if you go by Metacritic. MLB The Show averaged 90, so let's see.

The game just feels better to me. Even the crappy one minute demo is ten times better than last year's. I've bought the last 4 Maddens (including 08 on both PS2 and PS3) and 09 is the only one I've not kept and played for a whole year.

09 was overrated, 10 is about right. Don't get carried away by what previous games got. Example, WWE Smackdown 2008 got 0.1 or 0.3 higher than 2009, even though 08 was a crock of s*** and 09 was much improved.

Games are always reviewed for the time they are published in. An 8.9 in 2009 is better than the same score one year ago, because standards are higher.

If you put out a game from the first year of PS3 now, like F1 CE, you would call it a poor game despite it getting good reviews when it came out.

I will be annoyed by some of the faults with the game, like the AI running out of bounds, but I'm sure it could get fixed with a patch? Sometimes these things just slip through the net before the release.
