went to gamestop and preordered madden 10 today..they told me they're having a tournament Thursday before the release starting at 9. Can someone please give me some more information on this..?

Is this Madden 09 or Madden 10 that will be played?
Is it free to get into the tournament?
Do they hold your place in line?

You probably need to get the details from the store you went to, I'm sure every game stop isn't going to be having the same thing

My brother works for Gamestop and he took me to the midnight release last year as he was working that night. They are allowed to put the games in the consoles when they receive their shipments. I participated in the tournament last year and we played Madden 09 so yes, I'm pretty sure you'll play Madden 10. I'm pretty sure they save your spot but not completely.

Like the post above me, different stores will have different ways of dealing with this.

About the line thing, it doesn't really matter. The lines go really fast on release night, at least that's how it always is at mine.
