I was under the impression that you only had to pay to play ranked all-Madden matches. Is that wrong?

It's ranked only that you have to pony up the 5 bucks. You can still play unranked All Madden online matches.

The fact is, EA is putting a price tag on features that have always been free.

Madden Cards/Cheats
Online Leagues(Franchise)
All-Madden difficulty in Online Ranked matches

Soon, game rentals from Game Fly and Blockbuster are going to be rentable demos. Everything being locked except for Exhibition Mode. That is where Paid DLC is taking us and I don't like it.
