Michael Crabtree In The Game?
I've been thinking about the Michael Vick situation about him not being in the game, and I started thinking: Why is Crabtree still in the game? He hasn't been in the NFLPA for two years, he plans on sitting out this year and re-entering, so why does he get to make it in the game and Vick doesn't?Tags: None -

Re: Michael Crabtree In The Game?
Crabtree is in the game because, historically, rookies eventually sign. And Michael Crabtree isn't conditionally reinstated due to being in jail for two years. He was put into the roster early on. If he plans to sit out for the year, expect him to be removed. -

HE ISN'T GOING TO HOLD OUT A SEASON AND RE-ENTER!!! everybody heard that and thought, oh he's going to, but his agent denied it, and he or his representitives haven't said anything about it. it's all rumor!!! he will sign. he just top five money b/c he's full of himself. he won't get it. he'll eventually just take the deal.

Re: Michael Crabtree In The Game?
Crabtree is an example of what's wrong with the NFL or any pro teams today. No one wants to play the game. No passion. It's all about who is making X more dollars than the next guy.
If only contracts and their values were confidential.
On topic, roster updates will pull him off the 49ers team.Comment

Idk, I wanna see the Raiders game tonight but it sounds like DHB is doing just as good at Raiders camp as Crabtree is doing at 49ers camp so far...NFL: Bills

Crabtree's situation is nothing like Vick's.
Crabtree signed a player marketing contract with the NFLPA (seperate from player contract), as have most, if not all of the 1st and 2nd rounders. That's why you'll see holdouts in the game. They can only put players in the game who have signed this contract.
Vick, on the other hand, has not signed the player marketing contract. Its probably a very low priority right now until he's actually an NFL player again.UF - Class of 2000. Gainesville born and bred.Comment

For once, maybe. Even if you are a "top 5" talent, but get drafted at 10, you should be paid as a 10th pick. The problem is he wants to be paid as a 5th pick. Instead of taking what would be more than enough money for the man, he disrupts camp and could possible ruin what looked to be a 8-8 or 9-7 season. Anyways, rookie contracts are ridiculous and something needs to be done about them. They need a pay scale like the NBA.PSN: xxplosive1984Originally posted by J. Re: Michael Crabtree In The Game?
Not really. This whole hold out is because Crabtree still believes he is the best WR in the draft, regardless of where he was drafted, which was the 2nd WR taken. He doesn't want top 5 money, he wants the same or better deal than Heyward-Bey. Obviously the 49ers don't want to give it to him because rookie salaries are based on tiers. He is slotted after Heyward-Bey, so they don't want to pay him the same money.
However, if he had been taken by the Raiders, he WOULD have actually been the 1st WR taken, and then would have been given 7 pick money without hesitation, so this hold out very likely would not have happened.
And, I Heyward-Bey is most likely not the best WR in the draft, so to say that Al looks smart is a huge stretch. He could have easily traded down and gotten Bey near the bottom of the draft, or he could have taken one of the other WRs if he was just not sold on Crabtree.
Smart and Al Davis, rarely go in the same sentence anymore. Now senile... lol"You mustn't be afraid to dream a little bigger, darling."Comment

I don't have any respect for Crabtree at all. But yes he's in the game. In fact here are his 2009 stats: 50 catches, 515 yards, 4 TD's.
He blows. Sorry I just don't have respect for rookies that haven't proven a damn thing in the NFL yet and they want all this money.Comment

Re: Michael Crabtree In The Game?
How is Al Davis looking smart? He drafted a WR who has never really done anything other than be very fast. He only went there because of speed. Crabtree is and was the best WR in the draft and if I were him, I'd hold out for more money than DHB too.FC Barcelona
