Re: Madden Midnight Release Stories

I got my start at Gamestop a few years back working "security" for Madden release because my buddy was asst. manager there.

Was at the edge of a iffy neighborhood and had problems at the last few midnight releases so they hired me and a few other guys with bouncing experience to help out. I ended up getting a part time job there due to how smooth things went for a change.

Stuck around a few years, mainly as a bouncer for midnight releases and sales. Nothing really ever happened but I guess they felt safer.

Well I went to gamestopone hour before release. There was maybe around 60 people there. They had some music going and had a some pizza and drinks. Got me some of that. Waited the 1 hour and got in and out in lession then a min. Then came home and chilled and played most of the night.

Re: Madden Midnight Release Stories

I had every intention to make the midnight release, but I get to work on Wednesday (I'm an Army Reserves Recruiter) and they tell me I have to take a guy up to MEPS Thursday morning. No big deal right? But then they tell me he has to leave at 4 AM to make it to the MEPS by 6AM.

So I had to get up at 3AM Thursday morning, drive 2 hours, wait at MEPS ALL DAY (he didn't get done until 4:30), then drive two hours back to Cincinnati. By the time I got home yesterday I was bushed.

Watched a little TV with the wife and dozed off. I awaken at 12:30 AM. Didn't feel like driving the 10 minutes to the Gamestop by my office just to get there and find that they left already. So I'll just get my copy of Madden today when I swing by my office.

Re: Madden Midnight Release Stories

I worked my store's midnight release.

We had about 26 people there for the tourney, about 24 of which were allowed to sign up, competitive games all around.

I've had the game for half a week, and I'm falling more for it every game, which is rare with EA football games. Certainly loving it more than NCAA.

Oh, and I have to open today...Lord Jesus help me.

Re: Madden Midnight Release Stories

Me and my son went to our local Gamestop and played in the tournament.

The manager of the store only let the first 8 360 and ps3 owners play. (I assume to make the tournament go faster). The winner of each would get a $25.00 gift card. Well amazingly there was not 1 PS3 owner that signed up for the tourney, so he just let the winner of the 360 tourney have $50.00 instead.

I was the Vikings and he played with the Cowboys. I won my first round match against a guy using the Falcons, he dominated the first quarter but after I got used to using them (this games ratings system is awesome, Tavarius Jackson cant throw the deep ball accurately) I won pretty easily.

Unfortunately I wasn't as fortunate in round 2 with Jackson throwing a costly pick and Peterson fumbling late in the game to seal my fate against the Cardinals.

My son however was much more successful and using the Cowboys pretty much dominated everyone =)

His go to guys were Witten and Barber, again ratings in this game.....awesome.

Anyway he ended up winning the $50.00. And were gonna use it to get one of the NBA games when they come out!!

Fun evening.

My last midnight release was like that 2 years ago. It was sooooo annoying. I was talking to a few guys about a couple gaming memories when two dudes start yelling at us about how they would kick our @$$ in Madden. Go watch some porn and leave me alone.
