Can't sign my #1 Draft Pick?

I'm on the "Sign Rookies" part of the offseason in my Jags franchise after the first year. With my first pick I selected the #1 QB, but I can't sign him for some reason. I hit "A" but nothing happens.

I can sign all the other players I drafted, but not him. I've tried releasing tons of players to clear up cap room, but even then the A button doesn't work on him. Just the other players.

Any idea wtf is going on?

Usually when you draft a QB #1 Overall, he wants 6-7 years with Max Salary and about a 25 Mil signing bonus.

This is a bug that's been in the game for a couple of years... the workaround is:

1. To sim the rookie signing part and he should sign.

OR

2. Don't sign him and he should be available in Free Agency week 1 of pre-season. (note- he'll be available alot cheaper now though. Also if you sim week 1, it's likely someone else will pick him up.)

EDIT: These were the workarounds for the last two maddens, i don't know if they work in M10. Although given the bug still exists, i'd expect the workaround to exist still too.

Thanks salb, letting the CPU sign rookies worked. Kind of annoying though.

AH.... the irony of this post is shakespearian.


Just finished my first season with the Bills... did the draft and am on to the rookie signing part.

I can't click on my first draft pick, nothing happens.. i can sign everyone else but then the only way to continue is to simulate the rookie signing part... problem is my #1 pick (who it turns out is an 85 QB) signs for the Falcons for 350k rather than me everytime.
So i then reloaded and tried to simulate all of my draft signings... NONE OF THEM SIGNED FOR ME, they all went to other teams?!?!?!?!

The mode, both offline and online, are broken because this will happen again and again.

The funny thing is they took away the option of picking your draft picks in Free Agency (was a cheat before) so i can't even use this bug workaround for this gamebreaker from the last 2 franchise modes... Essentially, they've fixed the fix but left the bug.

@Lauxman... did the simulating sign all your picks on the first attempt??
