What preseason should be like in Madden for 11

As of right now the preseason in Madden is pointless and just get simed. First there is no position competition in preseason like pass Madden. Second when I remove my star players I dont want them coming in as back-ups or on special teams. You should have a 70+ rosters going into every year and should have to cut players after each week or two. Players that get cut can go into the free agent pool. And we should be able to keep 5-7 guys on a practice squad.

this would be great...the expanded roster/cut feature would make it actually worth while

I agree completely.

The 70+ man roster during the offseason is an absolute must. I'm so tired of trying to sign my 6th and 7th round draft picks only to get the message "Roster if full nyah nyah nyah!!!"

So I end up having to cut a couple players and am forced to take cap penalties so I can sign my rookies.

Please EA, make the preseason count. If I recall correctly I believe Madden 2005 had position battles.

Let us have the inflated roster during the offseason and force us to make cuts as the preseason progresses.

Bring back position battles!!!

At minimum, we need a way to:

- Evaluate new players (hide the ratings until you scout them or something)
- Make roster cut decisions (use the NFL cut down rules)
- Select practice squad members

It doesn't have to be super robust. Just give the preseason games a purpose.

This these are a mst for Madden 11, if possible I'd like to see them in an update.

That was my thread on this exact topic two days ago. Our complaints were similar to yours, but it was pointed out that the Madden team doesn't want to handle a 70-man roster because 17 extra players for 32 NFL teams means they'd need to add at least 544 (17 x 32) (real) NFL players to their Free Agent list, and keep that many players in the game from year-to-year. This would be a ton of extra work for them, and they've also complained about memory limitations.

My idea (similar to Head Coach) was more like having just a few extra slots per team, and then a preseason mode where there are computer-generated scrubs (with maybe a few gems in there) fighting to make the back end of your roster. You could evaluate them (and progress them) through preseason games, and keep them if you like. Any undrafted players not kept at the end of preseason would "disappear", so as not to clutter the FA list. And a new list of computer-generated players would appear next preseason.
