Can someone explain the "ask Madden" option?

I see three plays on the screen but none of them seems highlighted, which one I have to choose?

i wish they would bring back the "ask coach" feature but really make the playcalling the way the coach seems to call it. On NCAA i like Asking Corso so i dont have to go through the whole playbook and can choose from the 8-12 plays he suggests (although ask corso isnt that good in NCAA 10 because he chooses the same kind of plays). But i hate the playcalling screen on Madden. I hate the 3 plays and a different button for each play. I prefer the NCAA play call screen much more. And i always wondered, how do they determine what Madden suggests? Is he calling plays the way the team would really run their offense or just random stuff?

Honestly, I think EA removed the highlighted play on Ask Madden because EVERYONE pretty much agrees that they ignore the highlighted play and pick any 1 of the 3 plays available as they please.

So, I'm sure it's like "why give them a highlighted option when they're going to pick whichever 1 of the 3 they want anyway?"

HOWEVER, for a clue, Madden explains which of the three he's thinking about having you run as soon as you click Ask Madden. So there you go.

If you look closer you can scroll about 4 pages of plays, not just the three suggested. Same with ask Corso in NCAA. I think it would be fair to choose any of those if you are having problems running money plays.

As far as I can tell, ask madden has different virtual playbooks for different down/distance/time/score situations, then randomly selects 6 plays that might be suitable for the situation. I don't really think there IS a "best" option.

I find some of the defensive choices highly questionable (like with a 6 point lead, 80 yards away, with 13 seconds left, it tells me to call an all-out blitz or a 4-3 cover 1?!) but the offensive ones usually seem reasonable.
