What is Playmaker? How is it used?

In the game manual of the Passing and Receiving sectiion

It says press and hold L2(for ps3) and press R3...

What the hell does this do? R3 you pass the ball away... L2 is whatever...

Playmaker in Madden 09 made it so you could change your receivers route in the middle of the play, i.e. if you have to scramble right, you could flick the Right Thumbstick to the right, and the closest receiver would run that direction.

I thought it was gone in Madden 10. Gonna have to try it out now...

I cant get it to work

When passing...

Pull and hold L2/T.

Move the Rstick in any direction.

The closest receiver will then break off his route and run in the direction you pressed. I believe you'll also notice a blue icon underneath the player so you know that you playmakered him. You cannot playmaker on the run, or at least I haven't been able to.
