why in franchise mode team ratings are basically the same ?

For example, in play now mode, the browns are rated a 68, when I was just starting my franchise, the browns are an 82, this is before they made ANY moves and still in the beginning of pre-season. This was also there last year.....any way to fix this ? or are we basically going to play the season mode against teams with similar ratings?

All the teams are really rated differently than shown in exhibition and online.

Just in your rosters section release any teams worst player and sign another terrible player or even the same guy and the teams overall will change. Sometimes drastically so.

I did this to see what the Chiefs and other teams ratings were and the Chiefs real rating was an 80.. 67 to an 80 is a big difference.

This was the same in last years Madden as well.

Yea, I don't know why EA does that with the team ratings? I believe the initial team ratings are simply EA's idea of what those teams should be rated at, while the altered rating (after dropping a player) is actually an average based on that team's actual player ratings ... thus being a more accurate rating in the game.

Because it is much more fun to bring a 68 up to a 90 than an 82 to a 90 over the course of a Franchise.

I've noticed this also. Love to play with any low ranked team, that goes for NCAA also.

Kind of threw me off when I noticed the Browns were damn near even with everyone in franchise mode. Oh well.

Dont get me wrong, I love this game straight up. First title in a while that, if I have the time, I can play two or more games in a row if I'm really feelin like sittin there that long, lol.

There ARE some quirky things across the board that make me scratch my head though, lol, this is one of them.

I didn't even know you could look at team ratings in franchise mode this year (with the exception of the bars when you have a game loading).
