Inside: A good (perhaps the best) direct measure for Defensive Aggressiveness

I made this list of "Aggressiveness" by adding together every team's total Tackles For Loss*, tendency to send five or more pass rushers**, and total sacks*** (all stats from the 2008 regular season). What I got was this list, in order of most aggressive to least aggressive, which seems to be pretty accurate to me. I'll be using it to tune the CPU's Defensive Aggressiveness slider in Franchise, and I thought maybe you guys would want to as well.

Feel free to leave feedback or w/e. Speak your minds.

NFL Defensive Aggressiveness:

Dallas Cowboys- 128.4
Minnesota Vikings- 122.0
Philadelphia Eagles- 121.4
Chicago Bears- 118.7
New York Giants- 116.9
Baltimore Ravens- 107.6
Pittsburgh Steelers- 106.8
Detroit Lions- 105.7
Tennessee Titans- 103.6
New York Jets- 101.1
Arizona Cardinals- 100.5
St. Louis Rams- 97.4
Seattle Seahawks- 97.1
Miami Dolphins- 97.0
Jacksonville Jaguars- 95.1
Carolina Panthers- 92.5
Buffalo Bills- 92.5
San Francisco 49ers- 89.2
Atlanta Falcons- 88.3
Cincinatti Bengals- 84.6
New Orleans Saints- 81.6
San Diego Chargers- 81.0
New England Patriots- 80.8
Cleveland Browns- 78.9
Washington Redskins- 77.9
Oakland Raiders- 76.8
Tampa Bay Buccaneers- 76.5
Houston Texans- 75.7
Denver Broncos- 74.9
Green Bay Packers- 70.6
Kansas City Chiefs- 60.0

OP, Very nice data.

I agree with all the posts before mine.

I hope this provides us with definitive coach settings for when I start my franchise.

Thanks for the bump. I wouldn't have seen it otherwise. Sweet info!

While one cannot say for sure how well these numbers will translate into Madden, I went ahead and put these numbers on a 0-5 scale for testing in a franchise by editing all 32 teams def agr.

Based on the OP's numbers, here's what I've got:

49ers 20
Bears 40
Bengals 20
Bills 20
Broncos 10
Browns 10
Buccaneers 10
Cardinals 30
Chargers 20
Chiefs 0
Cowboys 50
Dolphins 30
Eagles 40
Falcons 30
Giants 30
Jaguars 30
Jets 10
Lions 20
Packers 10 (IRL, they are more aggressive this year. Probably more around 40)
Panthers 20
Patriots 10
Raiders 10
Rams 30
Ravens 30
Redskins 10
Saints 20
Seahawks 30
Steelers 30
Texans 10
Titans 30
Vikings 40

I did it on a 0-5 scale because 50 def agr is actually really agressive in M10. Probably too agressive. If you really want a 0-10 scale to use the maximum range of the def-agr slider, just multiply all numbers above by 2.
